SUMMARY:February half term  Blacksmithing Course for Teenagers
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\n\nFollowing the success of our autumn workshops, we are delighted to offer a spring  blacksmithing course for young people aged 12-18 to learn the basics of blacksmithing – discovering the basic techniques of tapering, cutting, forging and forming to make some items such as necklaces, rings, small hanging sculptures using a wide variety of tools such as the forge, anvil, hammers, tongs, chisels.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAlistair Butcher, who has a smithy at Sandy Hill Arts and produces a broad range of small scale handmade tools, historical reproductions and artworks forged and made by traditional means onsite, will provide tuition on basic blacksmithing techniques and will support participants to create their own individual, functional and sculptural forged items by the end of the day.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n			\n				\n			\n			\n				\n			\n			\n				\n			\n		\n\n \nCourse cost includes materials and participants take home the items that they have made at the end of the day.\n
