SUMMARY:Emma Denton Exhibition 9-15 May
DESCRIPTION:Sandy Hill Arts is delighted to present an exhibition of the colourful, vibrant and beautiful work of local artist Emma Denton. Emma regularly sells her work at our Arty Bazaars and has been a longstanding supporter of Sandy Hill . This year she will host a solo exhibition in Room 14, with a private view on Saturday 10 May 12-2pm . \n\n			\n				\n			\n			\n				\n			\n			\n				\n			\n		\n\n \nEmma was born in 1971 with Apert’s syndrome with anomalies of the skull, face and limbs. The fact that Emma was born with only 4 fingers on each hand has never hindered her with her painting or pottery or indeed, her life. When she was 19 she went to the Hexagon Centre in Chandler’s Ford and was lucky enough to have art classes with Ernest Lilley. With Ernie Emma produced a number of detailed and highly original patterned paintings. Ernie encouraged her to make pottery and helped her achieve a GCSE in Pottery. Emma now lives in Ringwood in the week and attends the lively Spiral Blue Centre for people with learning difficulties. She also goes to a weekly art class. She comes, by bus, to her parents in Swanage every weekend. And in Swanage she has attended classes with Kinu Barsley and Annie Campbell. Nowadays she mostly produces cards, including her family’s annual Christmas cards, which she has sold at Boilerhouse Gallery events.\n \n
