DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to  remain an artist once we grow up”\n\n\n\n\nPablo Picasso\nWe are incredibly fortunate to have a superb printmaking press in the teaching area at Sandy Hill. This is a rare opportunity to experience a professional printers press in the spacious teaching studio and develop our drawings through varied print making processes.\nThis is a hands on six week course that will develop your creative confidence through exploring a wide range of approaches to drawing and printmaking with professional artist/ educator Clare Winterbottom who specializes in drawing in a multi-media practice. This course is designed for anyone of any age or ability who would like to draw or expand on their drawing and printing practice from beginners through to rusty and beyond…\n\nWednesday evenings from 6.30-8pm\n\n30 April\n07 May\n14 May\n21 May\n28 May\n4 June\nCost £150 including materials\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\nAbout me:\nWith a background in the arts and education, I have worked in illustration, interior design, art sales and marketing, painting, printmaking and Arts education. I have facilitated workshops, classes and delivered access to qualifications across a mixed range of settings, abilities and age ranges for 20 years. The benefit of rediscovering our creativity at any stage in life is fun, deeply beneficial, and rewarding. Engaging in drawing gives us access to a deeply personal yet universal language, leading to a host of positive benefits such as greater self awareness, self development and well being.\nThis is a 6 week course\nWhat to expect: through a series of fun exercises we will experiment with a wide range of approaches to discover some of the key elements of drawing and how it evolves to form the cornerstone of the practice of many artists. We explore the intelligence of materials and explore the potential of media that includes:drawing with a range of wet and dry media, mono printing, lino printing and dry- point etching. You can expect to emerge from this course with a more relaxed and confident approach to drawing for any variety of purposes.\nWeek 1 (30 April)\nDiscovering /Loosening Up\nStimulus: making tools, mark making, words and music We forage for and assemble tools from a range of conventional and re purposed materials, to explore mark making in a variety of materials\nWeek 2 (07 May)\nMemory /Imagination\nWorking from touch and memory we record our responses by manipulating a range of materials disengaging with our critical eye leading to an introduction to Lino printing\nWeek 3 (14 May)\nObservation/ Illusion\nCreating space and form with wet media, we experiment with tips, tricks and hacks into the world of techniques including: basic perspective, proportion and tone to render the illusion of three dimensions on a two dimensional surface\nWeek 4 (21 May)\nMovement/ figures in space\nWith professional life models, we explore the figure and working with movement in drawing and mono printing\nWeek 5 (28 May )\nSecondary Source Material\nUsing Photography and or collage we dip into dry point etching. Printmaking as a natural extension to drawing features somewhere in the work of many\nartists and designers.\nWeek 6 (4 June)\nPulling it all together.\nAfter 5 weeks of experimentation & research, this session offers the opportunity to consider the development of a piece of work undertaken that can be further resolved as\na result of a particular interest or goal.\n\n\n
