SUMMARY:Tony Kerins & Elvis McGonagall in Discussion: ‘Political Drama. Ordinary Joy.’
DESCRIPTION:“P O L I T I C A L   D R A M A   &   O R D I N A R Y   J O Y” \n6th September at 4pm  – Elvis McGonagall and Tony Kerins TALK  \nTICKETS ON SALE BELOW £8\n\nTWO brilliant creatives at the top of their game local artist Tony Kerins who has spent his life documenting people and landscapes outside as they happen and is now unrivalled in his deftness and economy of line and yet enormity of expression and feeling. Plus stand-up poet, comedian and broadcaster, armchair revolutionary and walking shortbread tin, Elvis McGonagall who resides at The Graceland Caravan Park somewhere in the back of beyond where he scribbles satirical verse whilst drinking malt whisky and listening to Johnny Cash. Award winning poet, stand up and general absorber and translator of this crazy thing called life.\nJoin Tony and Elvis in conversation. An exclusive event celebrating their collaboration on a new book, CASK STRENGTH, they’ll talk about little black books, and how words do one job and pictures another. They’ll probably mention persona and our public figures. Elvis will read and Tony might draw. They’ll answer questions and hopefully laugh, because it’s those real world inter-reactions that will save us\nPolitical Drama and Ordinary Mess: An exhibition, in Room 14 at Sandy Hill Arts, of Tony’s original artwork illustrating the work of performance poet, Elvis McGonagall. Featuring ‘Cask Strength’, the third and latest collaboration between the two.\nwith Fiction and Documentary: Fifty years of Tony Kerins’ drawings everyday life. Painting the here and now. And illustrating book covers, children’s books, countryside maps …\nTHIS TALK WILL ACCOMPANY THE EXHIBITION OF ORIGINAL ARTWORK BY TONY KERINS FEATURING ALL THREE COLLABORATIONS BETWEEN TONY AND ELVIS, AND TONY’S FIFTY YEARS OF DRAWING THE HERE AND NOW.\n
