Bloomsday 2025 – a celebration of James Joyce’s Ulysses
BLOOMSDAY 2025
16th June
Join us to celebrate James Joyce’s Ulysses
All welcome, whether you’re a lifelong fan or just curious to know what all the fuss is about
Ulysses is simultaneously a realistic novel set on a single day in Dublin, and a vast epic that radically recreates both Homer’s Odyssey and English language itself. Banned on its release as obscene, it is now seen as one of the greatest and most influential works in literature.
Immerse yourself in the music, images, voices, food and drink that all live within the words of this remarkable and life-affirming text.
The evening will include an introduction and guide to the text, readings, discussion and of course Irish whisky, music and Guinness, before we are taken out into the night by Joyce himself.
Bar and library open from 6pm
Talks and readings 7 – 10.30pm
