Emma McGinnTextile ArtistStudio 28My work is very much process driven, centring around craft-based textile practices with a focus on surface pattern, print, dye and stitch. I work with found and collected materials that hold personal meaning, and engage in repetitive processes for the connection they offer between material, body, time and space. I am interested in how slow processes like natural dyeing (especially indigo) and patchworking connect with the rhythms of life and provide space to explore experiences.I am currently exploring the topic of early motherhood through a part-time practice-based PhD, developing methods through which to bring together the materiality of textiles practice with the experience of matrescence.
I run a variety of workshops throughout the year including stitch, indigo dye and shibori, get in touch or visit my website for further details.
I’m happy to discuss commissions or bespoke workshops, feel free to get in touch.
