“I think of an Idea, then it becomes Something Else”
This quote by Picasso suggests a certain freedom of thoughts
and imaginings interpreted through paint and the “drawn line”.
“Playing with shapes.” “Transformation of Shapes” taken from
both memory and reality at the outset of a composition.
To “play” is to “create” through experimentation, never quite
knowing how the final outcome will reveal itself!?
Enjoying the uncertainty, as if walking on the edge of
something all the time…
Working in oils lends itself to this way of thinking, knowing that
visual changes can be made as paint is “manoeuvred about” in
the quest to find a solution….
Anticipation….Intrigue….what will emerge through the initial
colours laid on?
A journey into the unknown until:
“Yes!” –
Drawn lines bring Structure, Definition and Clarity to discover
and identify the subject matter as the work evolves.
