Current ceramics are all raku or smoke fired, in stoneware and porcelain, or paper clay versions. Some short runs are slip cast and rarely exceed a dozen examples. Mixed media additions – and the nature of the raku process – mean that no two end up the same.
Recent work is drawn from early memories of brightly coloured tin toys – cars, planes, boats, rockets, robots… More to come of these to put that idea to bed before whatever comes next. Older inspiration includes Celtic and early Christian grave goods.
Photography is often about surface and texture, the passage of time and water across the seen environment; about landscape and unseen human interaction. I am intrigued by the passage of time across the surface of things, and the small detail of landscape often overlooked.
Work is sold through the Boilerhouse Gallery, an artist led cooperative in Purbeck, Dorset.
