Saxophonist JON LLOYD makes his Sandy Hill Arts debut with guitarist ROB PALMER.
The duo will perform pieces from Jon’s acclaimed quartet album ‘Earth Songs’ alongside improvisations that the two musicians have developed during a 30 year collaboration.
Expect ambient melodic soundscapes that are deeply influenced by the European jazz scene.
Jon Lloyd has released 13 albums as a leader/co-leader. He works regularly with acclaimed pianist John Law and has collaborated with numerous contemporary jazz musicians including legendary saxophonist Evan Parker, drummers Asaf Sirkis & Paul Clarvis, cellist Stan Adler and American drummer Gerry Hemingway.
Rob Palmer last appeared at Sandy Hill Arts with the Afrobeat band Thokozile. He regularly performs Brazilian jazz with his wife, vocalist Véronique Joly, he has released 2 albums as a member of the band Echo Engine (which also features saxophonist Theo Travis) plus a duo ambient album with keyboard player Daniel Biro. He has also worked with acclaimed vibes player Roger Beaujolais and ECM recording artist Phil Wachsmann. In addition to this Rob also co-promotes SoundCellar: https://soundcellar.org/
