Project:Project

Another public performance for this developing collaboration between local artist Sharon James and musician Rob Mills. Sharon’s digital painting is projected onto the back wall of Room14, responding and interacting in real time with Rob’s saxophone-led improvised soundscapes.   Every performance is an improvisation of colour, pattern and sound, every performance is different…

Sharon James is a nationally collected artist whose work has recently been shown in Black Lives Matter UK , Awaiting Voices, Expressions of Freedom (for BlackWomenArtists), Elements (for the Arts Council) and has recently appeared on Grayson Perry’s Art Club on national TV. This year she won the main Thelma Hulbert Gallery Open 2023 prize.
Rob Mills is a musician and composer who has performed and toured internationally, now resident in Purbeck.  Rob appears in a variety of local bands around Purbeck, including the Trackside Co-optimists and the Swanage Jazz Machine.

This indoor performance is subsidised by Arts Council England, and is the first of our ‘Sandy Hill Shorts’ more intimate events in Room 14. Ticket price of £10 (£7 concession) includes one free glass of wine or similar; there will also be a donation bar.
