Simon Polkinghorn ‘The Spell’ Exhibition (PAW) 24-31 May

“Painting and drawing have been important to me from an early age. My particular interest has been the human form and the balance between observation and expression. I often use intense, contrasting colours, using a variety of media, including oils, acrylic, pastels, and sometimes combinations of mixed media, which have on occasion included  nuts and bolts (and even suppositories!).

This collection of work is intended as an enquiry into the relationship between the personal and the political; exploring how people can be motivated, and how we can be influenced. Some of the themes are darkly satirical, sometimes (I hope) humorous, and draw occasional inspiration from elements of science fiction, horror, and even stylistically from graphic literature. I also want to entertain.”
