‘The Sound of Movement’ Contemporary Dance and Music WORKSHOP
Contemporary jazz ensemble, ‘The Sound of Movement‘, specialists in merging contemporary jazz and dance, present a wonderful day workshop in which they teach performance, improvisation , composition and choreography.
This will be followed by an evening performance from 7pm – 9pm in which workshop participants will be able to participate. Join this exciting one day workshop for a fun and enjoyable day of practical hands-on learning. This is a cross art form workshop for both musicians and dancers with an interest in contemporary jazz and contemporary dance, and for those are are interested in enhancing their current skills in creative thinking, collaboration, improvisation, and composition/choreography. This is open to all instruments and dancers.
THIS WORKSHOP is aimed at musicians with an intermediate understanding of their instrument and harmony, with an ability to play in an ensemble, and for dancers with prior experience (one year+) in contemporary dance or other dance styles, or those specialising in music or dance at secondary, pre-vocational, and undergraduate levels.

PLEASE INDICATE CLEARLY WHETHER YOU ARE A MUSICIAN OR DANCER. We will pass this information onto workshop leader, Joel at ‘The Sound of Movement’ (only), who will get in touch with you regarding a potential place. The Sound of Movement ensemble will need to ensure a mixed group of dancers and musicians attend. They are also happy to advise if you are worried about your current ability or previous experience.

Workshops play a crucial role in the development of musicians and dancers, offering a variety of benefits that contribute to their growth, skill enhancement, and overall artistic development.
What makes this workshop special is that it involves both musicians and dancers; working, learning and creating together in a collaborative environment. Lead by an engaging team of young musicians, dancers and educators who are pushing the boundaries of contemporary jazz, classical, afrobeat and dance. The London based tutors also teach at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, Ronnie Scotts Foundation and at music hubs.
These workshops will provide a unique opportunity for dancers and musicians to perform alongside each other and create their own work. ‘The Sound of Movement’ teach and refine key skills in performance, composition, improvisation, harmony, rhythm, choreography and movement skills.
Participants will gain a variety of benefits from attending this workshop including; skill development, collaboration and ensemble skills, genre exploration, technical training, choreography exploration, body awareness and conditioning, cultural and historical context of music and dance, aural and listening skills, development of expression and artistry and feedback from professionals who are working in the industry today.
