The Joy of Jazz – Youth Music Workshop

Music project for young people led by Jazz veteran Rob Mills and award winning newcomer Amy Jerman based around repertoire, improvisation and performance. This is a FREE one day workshop event for musicians aged 15-25 with a (free) showcase performance in the early evening. Amy Jerman
Primarily a composer, Amy has won three composing competitions, with one work being performed multiple times by a large orchestra in America. She will be studying Saxophone in her second year at university, but she also plays Clarinet and Piano, as well as string and brass instruments.
Having graduated from the Within Reach Young Creative Leaders scheme this year, she runs arts workshops around Dorset. She is also passionate about arts inclusion, providing affordable music tutoring and working with Dorset Music Service, Music Mark and Anvil Arts on various projects. Recently she took up directing, assisting Swanage Big Band and leading Purbeck Mini Big Band.

Rob Mills ( saxophonist) is a musician and composer who has performed and toured internationally, now resident in Purbeck.  Rob often plays with the Mowlem’s Pent Up House Trio, The Trackside Cooptimists – a changing collection of local musicians, and the Swanage Jazz Machine.

Workshop 10.30-5pm with a break for lunch
