We have a new poignant exhibition beginning tomorrow accompanied with a moving talk from Dorett Diekman.Timeless Coloured is a collection of work from David Perkins. This anniversary exhibition shows part of the remarkable journey David took after being diagnosed with Young Onset Alzheimer’s.David took up painting in November 2015 and painted with dedication and passion till June 2018, developing a style where lines and curves seem to float or dance over the paper. He fell in love with the moments when colours were mixing, creating a spectrum or single colours creating a range of shades. His joy when experimenting produced paintings that reflect the moment of surprise. David had a deep feeling for colour which weaves through his paintings.The opening of this exhibition is accompanied by a talk, 'Open Window - Living Well with Dementia', on the 17th May at 2:30pm.There is nothing that prepares you for when your husband is diagnosed with Young Onset Alzheimer’s. The diagnosis of any form of Dementia is a start of a journey where windows open and close. And it is up to the person receiving the diagnosis and everyone surrounding this person to look out for and discover, explore or make the most of these windows.The Cambridge Dictionary refers to the noun ‘window’ as “a period when there is an opportunity for something“. Within the journey of dementia, these opportunities for something are opening and closing. In this talk, we would like to focus on how taking the opportunities of the open windows can make life rich and fulfilled, despite a life limiting diagnosis.Please do come along and show your support for this important exhibition at SHA, which has been supported by the Leonardo Carer Support charity @leonardocarersupport .#exhibition #artexhibition

Sandy Hill Arts has a brilliant line up of open studios, exhibitions and live music on during @purbeckartweeks this year!Come and immerse yourself in 'The Spell' - Simon Polkinghorn's (@simonpolkinghorn) captivating exhibition, visit some of our amazing on site artist's studios for gifts, inspiration or a treat for yourself and bask in the sun whilst listening to some brilliant live music! On the second week there will also be another exhibition, 'Everything is colour', from artist Elizabeth Brown (@lizziebrown77) , exploring the DNA of colour through imagery inspired by the natural world.We also have a unique performance from (@saied.silbak) and (@fredthomasmusic) on the evening of the 31st May - tickets are available in advance from our website or on the door 🤩Please do come along and visit during PAW (we are venue 16) 🎨#PAW2025 #PurbeckArtWeeks #CorfeCastle
