It’s buzzing at Sandy Hill Arts today ! The Boilerhouse Gallery open their Equinox exhibition , with tea and cake between 2-4pm, young local artists Emma Pierson , Hannah Wilkinson and Isabelle Henstridge open their exhibition with a free artist talk and drinks between 6 and 8pm. Debbie Hardy’s sculpture is looking glorious in the sun and Alistair is busy with a blacksmithing course .Come down !

Spring is all about renewal…. This fence at the back of Kim’s studio had started to rot through so John has rebuilt it from timber felled and seasoned on site. We don’t make a habit of cutting down anything - but our wet woodland means we sometimes lose the odd tree in one of the storms that rattle up this valley. We salvage and reuse whatever we can

It’s a useful reminder that we can seat 170 in our lovely (Arts Council England @aceagrams funded, thank you) marquee which goes back up on 2nd April. And we have so much programming to share with you…. Most of the exhibitions and classes for 2025 are up on our website now - the music and spoken word events will follow as we firm up details with performers. We’ve started pencilling in some things for 2026 already too 😁

We are very excited to be welcoming 3 talented local artists to Sandy Hill Arts...

We are going to be busy this morning! For the third year in a row Sandy Hill Arts marks the finish line for the Jurassic Express Half Marathon - some 600 runners plus their family and friends passing through our site in their way to the Corfe railway station and their train back to Swanage. Always amazing just how quickly the first runners arrive, and how soon it’s all over and we are back to being our usual quiet green oasis by mid afternoon. The @boilerhousegallery is open 11-4 as usual (and again tomorrow, Sunday) but there won’t be any parking on site until some time after lunch - cars and runners not a great mix 😊. Looks like a great day for the runners, and we wish them well!
