Cyanotype Family Drop-in with Jane Woods – PAWF
Create your own beautiful blue and white images with this easy photographic process. There’s lots of family fun to be had with these botanical prints. The whole process takes around 30-40 minutes so why not take a little nature walk around the site while you’re waiting for your prints to dry? You’ll be able to take your art work home with you.
£5 suggested donation. This drop in session is available to all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Allow around 30 minutes to make a print.
Cyanotype is a fun introduction to camera-less photography – it’s safe, easy and creates impressive prints in no time at all. Jane will have suitably treated light sensitive material available and will help you choose some local plant material to make your unique A5 print. The process was invented by astronomer Herschel around 1840 as a way to copy his notes – so this is a real ‘blue print’, the Victorian version of photocopying.
The process needs strong sunlight so the session is weather dependent. Jane will be running more half day workshops at Sandy Hill Arts in 2023.
This workshop is part of our programme for Purbeck Arts Weeks Festival 2023 – we have lots more on offer across the two weeks, from open studios to workshops, demonstrations, exhibitions and performance.
