Fundraising afternoon of music and art
The Sandy Hill Arts community are putting on an afternoon of music and art in order to raise funds for Forest Holme Hospice and Arthur Rank Hospice who cared for seven women closely linked to our community over the past year. This is our way of saying thank you and we are very grateful to all the wonderful musicians and artists who will perform free of charge on this afternoon to help us raise as much money as possible.
The afternoon is dedicated to seven wonderful women: Angela Jones, Margaret Pollard, Caroline Frohwein, Louise Wall, Jane Viney, Jenny Hawke and Mary Baker and to the amazing hospice teams who cared for them.
Musicians will perform throughout the afternoon including: Glenn Ross, Angharad and Simon (aka Final Offer), Buzz Burrell and Hani, Over the Hill, Pili Lopez’s choir Cantos do Mondo and the Summer Soulsters.
Singer/ songwriter Calista Kazuko will sing a Bob Dylan song in loving memory of Caroline Frohwein.
Food will be available throughout the event provided by Trina of Feast and Flower and there will be a bar.
All proceeds from the event will be shared between Forest Holme Hospice and Arthur Rank Hospice
This afternoon came to fruition following on from the wish of Frances Pollard and Angharad Holloway, members of the Sandy Hill Arts community, to raise funds for the Arthur Rank Hospice in Cambridge who cared for both of our mothers last summer. By a very strange coincidence, our mothers ended up on the same corridor, hundreds of miles away from Corfe and we were both spending many hours there, supported by the wonderful staff. Rather than running a marathon, we decided we would organise a creative afternoon, involving the community. At the same time, we wanted to fundraise for the local Forest Holme hospice who had cared for a number of close members of our Sandy Hill Arts community over the same period. This afternoon will be a joyful celebration in honour of seven amazingly creative women and the outstanding hospices who cared for them. We are hugely grateful to all who have given of their time and talents to make this event a reality and to those who have supported by coming along.
