‘The Sound of Movement’ Contemporary Dance and Music PERFORMANCE 2026
HIGHLY ORIGINAL LIVE MUSIC AND DANCE PERFORMANCE led by London-based contemporary jazz ensemble ‘The Sound of Movement’. Innovative jazz musicians will improvise in response to dancers to create a captivating performance. Do come along! This will be a wonderful and unusual event. A unique immersive evening of live music and dance on our new marquee floor at Sandy Hill Arts!
Bringing together dancers and musicians, the performance unfolds through beautifully soft melodies, offering an engaging experience for a wide range of audiences. They strive to bring the worlds of contemporary jazz and dance to all listeners.
Sound and movement are in constant dialogue: musicians respond to the dancers’ movement, while dancers are guided by the rhythm, texture and energy of the music.
Rooted in contemporary jazz and collaborative performance, the work blurs the boundaries between composition and choreography, allowing each piece to evolve in the moment. The result is a performance that is fluid, expressive and never the same twice.
This innovative approach of adding dance to a jazz performance creates a distinctive perspective, giving audiences the opportunity to both hear and see the music as it takes shape — an experience that is as visually compelling as it is sonically rich.
Performed by artists from London’s jazz and dance scenes, the ensemble brings fresh energy and a distinctive voice to this evolving art form. Despite being early in their careers, these performers have already performed at renowned venues such as Ronnie Scott’s and Sadler’s Wells.
What to expect: An intimate, atmospheric performance combining live contemporary jazz with contemporary dance — melodic, engaging, and unfolding in real time before your eyes
